Welcome! I'm with the others, use what you have a while, and then see what you may be lacking. See if you like editing or not, that can be quite the learning curve, (very good free software to try to see if you like editing) the dark room is now digital too. Finally congratulations on...

Where do you draw the line with editing?

I simply look at the Nikon RAW file with NX Studio your camera settings (even if you changed any) are embedded in the RAW data the viewed file is what your camera would have generated. I've recently found a great program for looking at RAW files called Xnview MP it has a browser and can also...

I have long known they do feed as needed. But seeing all the evidence on the ice was astounding By observation I now see the real reason the snow geese just take off and fly - it's quite a sound when they all go up

The moon was up in the sky and I was eyeballing it, then some eagles sent the snow geese skyward - it was pretty neat - getting several different shots

Its snow geese time at Middle Creek Wildlife refuge in PA its a little over an hours drive but I had some great photographic karma yesterday. I would have done better with more focal length and a tripod but its a great time all the same. The official report for 2/24 was 60,000 snow geese

Where do you draw the line with editing?

This is a good point, not always does noise distract, hence the "add noise" tool - I will carefully say I think the modern photographer chases perfect sharpness and perfection everywhere within images a little aggressively. I feel like I am just now getting somewhat consistent results as I...

This reminds me of the Gettysburg address - a lot of good thought with a few words 👏

Where do you draw the line with editing?

First - great thought for discussion in this modern world. For me I like testing boundaries, being an electrics hobbyist as long as I've been a Photography hobbyist. I like the digital world we live in, but I believe in keeping the original data in my images. When something turns to replacing...

    New here from Romania.

I'm going to be guilty of going on but I did think of something possibly valuable to you @myststars The beanbag -- I remembered having a camera beanbag years ago, due to the need for long exposures shooting film. In searching they are still a thing and are available in many sizes. This would...

    New here from Romania.

I want to make a final point - I hope that I was not out of place in my suggestions to try software. It is not for everyone and I want to point out I very much respect your desire to take a low ISO photo as apposed to correcting a high ISO image. That is ideal without doubt Without the addition...
