    accidental exposure compensation on D610

One of my annoying bads is accidentally - unintentionally changing the exposure compensation on my D610. I don't notice the change and then when I look at the images they are terribly under or over exposed. the problem imho is that the button to change exposure is so close to the trigger Is...

Tamron AF 200-400mm f/5.6 LD IF

A little New Years morning bird hunting - missed the bright red cardinal - just too quick for me. PP on an android tablet using free apps - not the best but works on the road.

Tamron AF 200-400mm f/5.6 LD IF

Having a little more playtime with my new toy. Went bird hunting at sunset - while I could hear a chirp or two, never spotted any feathered friends. But did get a chance to try out a few other subjects. Close up a leaves - from several meters away - like 30 maybe. And I took a moon shot -...

What Was Your First Computer? What Do You Use Now?

Me too. ... another old CoCo owner. Radio Shack TRS-80 It was a colour computer - "chicklet" keyboard - plugged into your TV for display and storage was done on an ordinary cassette tape. Oh the memories. took me a while to learn how to program a "wink" . Now - well I'm running three...

Tamron AF 200-400mm f/5.6 LD IF

Hoping this is one of those 'oldie's but goodies' we will see Just had one chance to run outside and shoot some birds in the backyard quickly. I have to learn to shoot long now. Shot with my D610 - on Christmas Day - bright and sunny.

My Christmas Present - a "new to me" Tamron 200-400 zoom. Will post some first try pictures in a threat under zoom lenses in the forums A "bridge" lens until I'm ready to drop a grand on one of those 600mm someday - or not.

    DX Auto-Crop

I know my D610 can be put into DX mode but not sure that gives any more reach, it just auto-crops the image so that when shooting with a DX lens you avoid having to crop out the dark vignette or 'port-hole' circle around the photo. Sometimes it is OK to create a round image but usually not...

Long Lens ... which one to dream about

I wish I could say which one to buy but right now it is just on my wish list but thought I'd see what people think about the various long lens options. First off I know I can spend thousands upon thousands for the super long lens - I don't see me dropping more than a grand or so. Max $1200 I'm...

From 1976 - my first 35mm - a Yashica Rangefinder and yes I still have it. A "Selfie" from way before the word 'selfie' was coined.

And since I was in the buying mood - and since Corel is running their "Shop Like's Already Black Friday" sale I bite the bullet and upgraded my photo-software of choice from Corel Paintshop Pro V 6 to V7. Price reduced to $36 (upgrade - CDN$) But that's not all act before (forget when)...

I like 'em blue - my portable backup drives. The big one is a Lacie 3T but too big to carry about. The lighter blue one is a 300 GB - which was big in it's day, but now too small for my photography collection. The dark blue one on top is my latest purchase - a Seagate "Slim" 2T backup drive...

    ND Filter's

Been giving thought to adding ND Filter(s) to my collection of accessories. I think I have room in one of my bags for one. :P Anyway - who uses one and which one do you like. Looking for recommendations that are "good and cheap" Well at least "OK and reasonably priced" See them down...

    Post your Train shots!

Tried to stitch together a set of photo's but I'm afraid I was standing too close to the train so the perspective is warped. But it was such a beautiful machine - lighting was not the best - too bright - on the wrong side of the train. But oh, well it was still a pretty sight for this old...

    A Prime 300 + Tele-converter on D610

Suffering a little sticker shock at the prospect of a nice long lens. Upwards of a grand I fear to get one. Used maybe $700. I was reading a bit more about primes and began to wonder if maybe I could satisfy me lust for a nice long lens for hunting birds by getting a descent, older 300mm...

    Post your panoramic shots.

Re: Let's see some stitched panoramas… I like to stitch photo's - and use them as backgrounds on my PC - I have a three screen array that's 54" from side to side but only 11" high. Top one is most recent - that's the view from our hotel room in downtown Calgary a couple of weeks ago. The...

Post your low light long exposures

Taken from the balcony of the 12th floor in downtown Calgary Hotel d'Art. I've not taken many long exposure night shots and unfortunately I did not have my tripod with me, these were done with a mono-pod.

    Post your Train shots!

Some old shots I took in Cripple Creek Co on vacation a couple of years ago. Just flipping through my photo catalogue and stumbled upon these. Not shot with a Nikon but still train shots.
