I am more concerned with the folded length of the pod than weight. Having said that, being in my 70s, I don't want to increase the weight of my backpack by too much (it's already up to 20+ lbs), but even a 5 lb pod would be OK. The biggest issue for me is that a tripod that starts getting too...

    Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS

Thanks, I would go out and try tonight, but we have our monthly Carolina Nature Photographer's Association meeting. If I am reading the "map" correctly, I may have the area in my photo. Correct me if I am wrong. I looks like the star to the right of Venus and a little above is Arcturus. If...

    Woody's 2024 Photon Collection Project

There's something about that head on stare of a hawk. It's like they are laser focused on you.

I know what you mean. I'm thinking about getting a travel tripod that will easily fit on my backpack to have when out shooting and not hauling my large and heavy tripod. I'm having a really hard time deciding since I can't see them, and set one up and see how sturdy it really is. I don't expect...

    Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS

Great shot. Did you think about removing the wires near the horizon? Photoshop has a new remove distractions feature that will automatically detect and delete cables and wires. I've tried it a couple times, and it has worked really well, with just a couple of clicks. I know some prefer to leave...

    Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS

I had a neighbor a couple streets over that was talking about seeing the comet in a break in the trees night before last. I waited until after dark and loaded up my camera and tripod and went to take some pictures. FYI, I'm not an astronomy photography. I took a handful of pictures at different...

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

Got a few more edited. This was a photography day at the Center which was arranged by the Carolina Nature Photographer's Association that the Pup and I are members of. We had 4 hours with the handlers bringing the birds out and putting them through their paces with the idea of letting us getting...

Had a day at the Center For Birds of Prey with the Pup. Got some decent shots. Nothing to alert the press about.

    Trying out long exposure

I Just learned that I can extend the maximum shutter speed out to 900s on my Z7ii. All I had to do was go into the menu and select extended shutter speeds. It only does that for manual mode, but that's fine. Keeps me from having to dig out my stupid phone and setup the timer. Not sure why you...

Wireless Remote Control Not Connecting With D5600!

If you end up replacing it, you might consider a corded model, if it will fit your needs. They are far simpler and hopefully less prone to failure. They tend to be cheaper as well.

    Trying out long exposure

Well, to be fair, I do worry about horizons being straight.

    Post your Moon Shots

I took the camera and my 200-500 outside tonight to see if I could see the comet. Trees in the way. While I was out I remembered I've never photographed the moon with the new higher resolution sensor Z7ii camera. I would have to dig out the hard drive with my older pictures on it, but it sure...

    Trying out long exposure

I didn't really have enough room to be able to straighten it out without crowding it. I was as far back as I could go, and using the widest lens I had. The wildlife/nature photographer in my doesn't register converging verticals, and there is no shift lens in my gear. 😉

    Backpack or shoulder bag?

I have both, but use my backpack most of the time. The main reason is my long tele lens. If I think I may need it, I take the backpack. A couple of the times I decided to go light, I ran into a situation that I REALLY wished I'd had my long lens with me. Having recently passed the 70 year mark...

Which Camera is the Best for Photography?

Since this is a Nikon forum, most of us lean towards Nikon equipment. Since lenses are specific to a brand, once you choose a camera brand, you tend to stick with it for economic reasons. Beyond that, a lot depends on what type of photography you are interested in. For example, if you are...

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

Got back out to Cypress today. Not a red letter day. The woodies weren't very cooperative, and not much seemed to come together. These are about the only three worth posting, barely. I had high hopes for the wasp nest photos. I edited a bunch of them, but while interesting, most were just...
