Gee, some 63 years ago! And you still have the very same face -- same eyes, same nose, same mouth, same face pose for portrait,... except the bear!!!

    Focus shifting (landscape)

Hi Paliswe, Evidently, according to the Exif, your experiments with 70-200mm and 24-200mm were taken under quite different conditions: different shutter speeds, different ISO, different shooting angles, and most importantly, different f/xx. Since you set f/2.8 for 70-200mm, you got very shallow...

    Focus shifting (landscape)

When you use 24-200mm and 70-200mm with FL=200mm, it is NOT under the exact same conditions: you have to use a ZTF adaptor for 24-200mm and it could make a bigger DoF. Or you could set a different aperture that also affects DoF (f4-6.3 for 24-200mm; f2.8 for 70-200mm). Remember large aperture...

    Focus shifting (landscape)

The special thing about my project is the main subject in the landscape scene is very very far (miles) away and some other object (e.g., clouds) is even beyond it. I need a 600mm lens to catch the scene. This is very different from Macro/close-up, even normal landscape scenes (DoF is not that...

    Focus shifting (landscape)

In response/appreciation to Paliswe's post, give my thoughts on 2c: First, my bad if wrong I think for z cameras' settings of focus shifting, "focus step width" is related to the "depth of field" of the system. And the "DoF" is set by focal length, aperture, and subject distance. The "step...

How do you get this number in EXIF? I couldn't find it in my Exif Viewer. Could you check my image posted above for the focusing distance? Thanks

    Focus shifting (landscape)

Thanks for the details, Fred. So the device calculates the number of shots... will it tell you the number before starting shooting? I just want to know the shot number. Also, it seems to be uncertain that you will be able to "tap" a point that represents infinity. Yes, file size, not file...

    Focus shifting (landscape)

No, I do appreciate Fred's sharing of using CamRanger. With Z camera's built-in focus-shifting function, there shouldn't be much difference from using CamRanger with DSLR. As I mentioned, for landscape I prefer to stop shooting until reaches infinity.
