I was standing near the beach on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and had been taking the previous picture of the Egret and started taking to a buddy of mine that had come up to take some pictures when I turned around and saw the sun getting ready to disappear on the horizon. I literally had about one to one and a half seconds to take this picture so it was just luck that I got anything at all. If you look very close you can see a tiny sliver of the sun. This is an island that is off from shore.

This is an earlier picture of the White Egret before the sun started going down and from a different angle using the sky as the background instead of the trees. Taking the shot earlier also eliminated the golden glow of the sunset. I myself prefer this version better but would be interested in hearing which one you like better.

I prefer the back ground with the sky behind the Egret. My buddy suggested the first one I posted with the pine needles but I really don't care much for that background.

I am adding some pictures of the Space needle and a few views from the platform at the top that is in Gatlinburg, Tn. and is 400ft tall. You can ride an elevator in the center of the tower up to the top platform and get some very nice views from up there. These are straight out of the camera except for re sizing to be able to post them.

Shot with Nikon D7000 and my favorite lens the Sigma AF 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM OS

I have done something that will make the headlines in the news all over the world. I spotted Santa stranded out in the marsh so I called the Coast Guard to get him rescued. I can see the headlines now, "Jeff Impey SAVES CHRISTMAS"!!!! I can't wait, see photo below. I called from my sell phone and the Coast Guard is in route to location.

looks like a fake santa to me, lead coot on santa's canoe doesn't have a red nose. Details jeff! No flotation device, running lights are questionable and does he have a licnese for the crawdad pot. We may never see santa thanks to jeff. Ho - ho - ho.

When an oak tree gets torn up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast we don't get rid of the trunk, we keep it's spirit alive by carving things into what is left after a storm tears off the main part of the tree. Here is an example of one of the trees that was ruined by Hurricane Katrina. We turn trash into treasure. You can find many of these sculptures along the beach but this is the only on that was painted instead of leaving it wood toned. This one is on the Biloxi town green across from the Hard Rock Casino on the beach.

I saw this man throwing his net trying to catch minnows so I ask him if he would mind if I took his picture and he told me to snap away.

This is another shot of the man throwing his net that I shot a few minutes earlier. It was a very overcast day so the lighting wasn't very good.
