Z7 Problems

I have a Z7. The live view will not come on. I have replaced the battery, removed the rubber eyecup, turned on and off several times. Worked last night but not when I need it, this morning. Open to all suggestions.

The button on the side of the viewfinder cycles through the different options for back screen on/off viewfinder on/off. It gets me every few months.

That's exactly what happened. Didn't even know it was there.
Its very useful for those long days you want to squeeze every bit of juice out of your batteries, just turn both the screens off. FWIW, the viewfinder screen uses more battery life than the screen on the back of the camera, but I've never really had an issue with the battery life except while taking a lot of videos.

Took mine on a trade, didn't get a manual. I will have one soon tho.

You can download the manual (the reference manual and two other guides) for free as .pdf files from NikonUSA.com.

I dislike navigating through long .pdf files to look things up and prefer a hard copy. The ones I found were pricey, so, on the advice of Cindy, I bought Darrell Young's book on mastering the Z6II/Z7II... highly recommended.

I have found that just about every feature has the "?" which does a good job explaining what that particular option does. It's like having the manual built into the camera.

This is true, but the original problem as I read it was there was nothing displaying on the back. ;) I imagine the help screen might have displayed.

My godox v1 will not flash in i-ttl mode, help please
Having no specific knowledge on the Z7 or the VI my suggestion would be to be sure they are both at the most recent firmware level. Many issue can be resolve with updates.

Hello. I have a problem. Something happened to my camera a few days ago. I don't know why. I turned it off at night, left it alone, and then turned it on in the morning. The screen doesn't turn on. I can see the menu and photos through ViewFinder, but nothing lights up on the screen. No menu, no photos. Sometimes it lights up, and sometimes it doesn't. I change the battery, leave it for a few minutes, and then sometimes it lights up, and sometimes it doesn't. I don't know why. I haven't injured it, it hasn't gotten wet, there have been no impacts, nothing. Absolutely. I take the battery out for a few minutes, put it back in, it works for about two minutes, then it disappears again. I don't know what the problem is. Please help. Thank you in advance.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

I tried everything, it doesn't work

The only two suggestions I got are:

1) Try a different battery, possibly a new battery, if you can... Maybe your battery is old and no longer holding the required voltage to keep the monitor on...

2) Check the ribbon cable behind the monitor to see if it is damaged or worn out and therefore shortening against the metal frame. Try to move the monitor to see if it comes on and off while moving... That would be your clue that the ribbon cable is damaged...
