Tripod and Adapter Advice?

Hi all. I have a Nikon D4S that I am learning, and I have an old, cheap tripod. I am wondering if I can get some advice on... 1) could someone post a link to an adapter on Amazon that would fit this tripod/camera and 2) A link to a decent, mid level tripod/adapter that would be better? I seem to have lost or misplaced the adapter I had with my last Nikon, so do need a new one or a new tripod, or both. :) Thanks so much in advance...appreciate the help.

Is the name of the company listed on that head? Sometimes quick release plates need to be made by the manufacturer. It definitely doesn't take an Arca Swiss plate and doesn't look like a Manfrotto plate either.

No it is not those models, it is a cheapo Digital Concepts. After thinking about this, perhaps someone or yourself could reccomend me a decent tripod that is mid range price wise that would be able to hold both the Nikon D4S and an iPhone? I haven't used a tripod for a long time, as my last camera got stolen, thus I am just getting back into playing with photography. :) Thank you for your reply.

ALL MY TRIPODS ARE MANFROTTO, 10 YEARS OLD OR OLDER. I WOULD BUY THIS BRAND AGAIN WITH A BALL HEAD.
DO A INTERNET SEARCH FOR A TRIPOD WITH A BALL HEAD AND A PRICE YOU WOULD PAY. I DO NOT KNOW IF
MANFROTTO HAS AN ADAPTER FOR A PHONE.

I would definitely look at something that has an arca swiss compatible plate. That is the standard that is by far the most commonly used, and mounting plates are available everywhere for very reasonable prices. Benro is another company that offers decent quality at a decent price in tripods. The big question is if you want a large, sturdy, but somewhat heavy tripod, or smaller, easier to carry that doesn't provide as much steadiness. You can have small /light, you can have extremely stable/steady, but you can't have both.

I do mostly wildlife/nature photography. I have a fairly large, Benro with a large/heavy gimbal head. I'm not overly happy about carrying it around for miles at a time (I'm in my 70s), but I really appreciate the stability it provides when I use it. I have access to a decent, much smaller, lightweight tripod, but rarely use it. Your mileage may vary depending on usage and personal preferences. I less stable tripod that you will use is better than a sturdy tripod sitting in the trunk of your car.

As for the phone, I have no idea other than suggest get the tripod you want for your camera and then get an inexpensive adapter from Amazon or a camera store that will hold your phone and has an arca swiss mount. Those are available for not much money.

You could also check some of the used sites like MPB. com, and (maybe) KEH.com. I know that MPB has a long list of Manfrotto and Gitzo tripods on their site, as well as some other brands. Maximize your spending bucks, while getting a quality tripod in the process. Just a suggestion.

As I searched tripods for you, this one popped up kind of unexpectedly. It looks very suspiciously like the Three-Legged-Thing Billy tripod. I am linking to a version that includes a cellphone mount. It looks like it is just heavy-duty enough to support a D4S and a lens that is not too large.

Thanks! I like that one. I was somewhat worried about the weight of the D4S, but this looks quite good and gives me peace that the camera will not tip it over, especially into the river while I was doing a casting demo, which would be my luck. Lol.
