Siggy Selfie DSC_2461 -1.jpg

Decided to get the Siggy Super Zoom - the older version 18-250mm
Price was right and reviews were good - for a super zoom.

Got a Df glass LCD protector since it's about the only nice thing available for it, but otherwise and more importantly price matched Kohls in Bestbuy to get DJI Spark for $350 vs 400, and on a new cred card that gives $150 back on first 500 spent. So $200 I can live with to own a drone for drone-y clips and high real estate shots I can start offering now.

I'll say, the remote for this thing is a MUST because touch-screen-only is just awkward way to control the little guy.

I was going to post my new Vanguard Alta Pro tripod (wore my old one out), but when I opened the box, it contained an old beat to heck tripod -- somebody did a buy and return scam on Amazon and I was the lucky recipient of their slack restocking procedures. Figures. Proper one should be here Tuesday. Maybe. Perhaps. Hope so.

Always ready to grab a bargain and saw this one on offer on a local FB Buy and Sell group.
Did a bit of background checking - it is a little dated (circa 2010) but it does what it is supposed to do (I have learned there is a firmware update for 2017 I'll have to look into).
It hs 16 megapixels (not too shabby for a $60 camera) and I found the manual on line - it has many features, including snapbridge and GPS tagging. Time to read and learn tonight

Read some reviews and generally it reviewed very well, both buy users and by review sites. A few distractors. The most common complaint - the buttons are so small - and they are. Big fingered people be warned.

Anyone here have one (had one?). I'm taking it to Florida soon, maybe get in the water while I'm there. just maybe.

Came with case and strap, charger and battery. I had read a reviewer who said if taking it boating get a floatation wrist strap, and I had noticed one of those on clearance for less than $5 at the local Radio Shack - picked that up too so that my new-to-me AW100 has it's own orange life jacket (right behind it in the photo).

Have not tried it underwater - didn't want to get out the ice auger and drill through the ice to test it yet.

Did take a few shots to make sure it works good (at least out of the water)

This is the zoom range shot from my back deck today. Yep we still have lots of snow but warmed up to -22°C today.
Managed the dark-light contrasts of a late in the day snow scene.

It has a 'macro' feature, and built in flash so gave that a go too. Shot one of my wife's wizards.

Not a birders camera by any means - but this crow just got in the way so I shot him.

And the obligatory pet shot.
This is a Crop-A-Lot shot.

It works.

Won't be replacing my DSLR's but easy pocket camera.

This thread is addicting, isn't it?! ;) Did you come here to see what someone bought or to see whose money got taken? :loyal:

Last summer I purchased a Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S lens which I love; however, I struggle with its weight especially since I have both trigger finger and trigger thumb in my right hand (and previously had surgery for tennis elbow in my right arm). And without VR, that can sometimes make it difficult to get the shot.

So I've been keeping watch of the Nikon 300mm f/4 PF with VR. A seller on Amazon had one listed in like new condition. He only had 24 ratings (at 100%), but when reading the comments from buyers, it seems he was only selling photography gear. He was exceptional with answering my questions, and the price was terrific. I took the chance.

This afternoon I scrutinized (meaning pixel peeped) images taken with both lenses. The PF edged out my original lens when pixel peeping but only by a hair. The weight is MUCH easier to handle plus the PF isn't nearly as long. Here's a sample taken a couple of days ago.

My son has one that he took on a sailing trip in 2014. It went into the salt and worked just fine for the trip. However, he didn't immerse it in fresh water after every trip into the briny, and the coating flaked off in splotches all over. It still operates as it should, though.

Had to replace my laptop. It was 8 years old; had been using a spring clamp on it to keep the charging cord in contact for some time; but then the cooling fan went out. Just got a basic HP with an I3 processor but sure is faster than my old one.
