Getting up close and personal with my wife's flowers.

Been playing around with DIY Macro Light Benders
Tried a long wrap snoot plus the flash bender but that proved too far out
Even this combo was a bit long.
Will keep experimenting.
Have done the Pringles Can thing but looking for something less fattening.

Haven't seen one of these for years. Perhaps I haven't been looking into the right place. Lol.

That's an earwig, an insect of the order Dermaptera. This one appears to be female.

One thing that is interesting about earwigs is that they are among the very few non hive/social insects where the mother cares for the young, rather than just laying the eggs and leaving them to their own.

Another interesting thing about them is that they do have wings, and are capable of flight, but are rarely seen in flight or with their wings unfolded. When not in use, their wings are folded up in a very elaborate and compact way, and I gather it's a very big deal for them to unfold their wings, and to fold them up again, so they don't often bother to do so.
