What bug is this? When it flies it is like a tiny blur.

As I was taking pictures of these tiny ‪‎flowers near my apartment, this ‪‎ant came along, apparently deciding that she wanted her picture taken as well.

Oops dbl post.

I really think a good macro lens would really help me out. I've also been looking at the B+W close up filters for a cheaper option, until i can gdt a decent lens.

I'm really enjoying the shots from you all.

Gus what lens?

This was with an 55 f3.5 P.C AI'd + PK-13 + modified TC-16A + D7100. It helped that our resident dragonfly had just had just eaten and was in a co-operative mood and let me get super close. I could see her wings flinch every time the flash fired, but she stayed put

They are definitely an interesting creature. There are more dragonflies at the bird park than there are birds lol.

Agreed! Yesterday they were flying all over the backyard and I tried some DIF shots but wasn't very successful lol. A few of them perched and I was able to get a decent shot of one of them, but it was a different species (Needham's skimmer) that would not let me get close, unlike our resident blue dasher that definitely has a personality and will silently perch near me from time to time.

The Tamron 60mm is a very nice lens that often gets overlooked. I recently got a Sigma 105, but I was very happy with the 60mm. In fact, I can't bring myself to sell it. Lighter lens too if you are sticking with dx. Got it with a good rebate a long time ago. The 105 gets me 'closer' when I'm a couple feet away, but at the very minimum distance, maybe it gets me 1 more inch of distance. The focal lengths don't apply so much at the very closest 1:1 distance. The manufacturers don't make it easy to compare, they usually give you minimum focus distance which is from the front of the lens to the sensor. To get the minimum 'working distance', you need to subtract the physical length of the lens.
I've had fun with the cheap macros filters too, they're not bad.
