Given that there's an "Alpha" next to it I suspect you've been selected as an initial tester for the function.
What I'm assuming it does, since it says "We'll try to help by adding tags for you", is give you tags that you can then select from. No one sees then except you until you accept them. By accepting a tag you're helping refine their image recognition software - which is good and bad, depending on how you want to look at it. When they start putting peoples' name in the tags you know we're screwed.![]()
Didn't anyone click on the link in the first post?:indecisiveness:
Good find. Guess we'll wait and seeThe auto-tagging feature is causing quite the kerfuffle on the Flickr forums.

Thanks for the link. Looks like there is no "opt out" choice at this point. I also went back and found a lot of incorrect tagging. Lilly the Rottweiler is pretty pissed. She is not a "cat" !!The auto-tagging feature is causing quite the kerfuffle on the Flickr forums.

Can anyone tell me what is going on
The auto-tag feature surfaced in September 2014:
www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-us/72157647237916735/
Someone added a request to User Voice for more control over this feature:
yahoo.uservoice.com/forums/211185-us-flickr/suggestions/6...
Full quote: "(1) make these auto-generated tags visible to the photographer, with the ability to delete all the inaccurate and inappropriate ones;
(2) make a global setting which would allow me to opt out from this tag auto-generation feature.
Thank you."
The "Admin" supplied their response, full quote:
"Thanks for your feedback on this important issue. We agree that Flickr members should have more control over autotags, and we’ll add this soon. Also, until we can handle cases like this better, autotags like “bikini” and “swimsuit” are not appropriate, so they have been removed."

Please do allow us to have control over autotags, as promised by the Admin of the UserVoice request. Also: please see to it that inappropriate tags are not added, least of all to people photos. And, last but not least: DO add a button for the account holder to opt out of this feature.
