....couple random comments and then I have to go off and get some life done...

The other thread going where folks are saying the Nikkor 70-300 AF VR is slow focusing? Ummm she keeps up with 8 FPS with nearly zero missing with AF on continuous...

This camera is crazy, 2 days in and just scratching the surface, this thing did not miss in this situation.....

D700 w MB-D10?

Boom I think, really reminds me of my F2's with MD (only without the misses)

Hope you had some fun viewing the images as much as I had fun shooting them!

Strap talk?

With the MB-D10 and 35-70 f2.8 D AF or the 70-300 VR attached this is one heavy beast, no complaints that is how I like it.

A little worried about the supplied black D700 FX Nikon strap holding up, don't want this beast to hit the pavement. Any suggestions re a good high end strap to shoulder the load? I sling over shoulder usually not a around the neck kinda guy. Have a nice Tamrac detachable on my A700 with VG but not sure I trust it either for this heavy pro rig.

Thoughts or perhaps link me to some good on topic/ same concerns strap discussion?

Thanks Nikonites!

I was going to say a black rapid strap with a bos tail works for me, and you might like it my friend, But a traditional setup is something I don't know much about. But I would really really recommend a well padded shoulder piece if you use any heavy lens camera combos. I was very thankful that mine is padded after carrying my D300 with grip using my new 80-400mm lens, since this combo is pretty flipping heavy compared to my other lenses with the D300! Lol :D
No other lens I have comes close to the size and weight of this lens, so if you plan on getting some heavy lenses like this one, you'll really want the padding for sure buddy in my opinion! Lol :D

Can not remember how I got to it, but you might have seen I went for Cotton Carrier products.
My first reaction: it is expensive, but it feels secure, easy and it does the job.
With my most expensive lenses I did not want to take risks.
Came across this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGfgIZVRhog

Need to protect that D700, It seems which you are enjoying the AF on it.

Messing a bit with capture NX-D

I have to remember to dust off Teddy before shooting with this combo in RAW!

Nikkor 35-70 f2.8 / D700

I have a cropped version on my desktop! Still deciding on where to go with software
Appears after a short drive that the best way to used the NX-D is to do the editing and then finish it up elsewhere for cropping, storage etc.....but just starting.
I cropped in Picasa - clearly not what we want to do going forward....again these are edited for exposure in NX-D but not cropped here. Cropped version of one of these on my desktop is brilliant....
Next task nose around Nikonites for software discussions....expect some real stupid questions soon!

:)

It's sounding like poor Stevie Nicks' days are numbered. :(
Already looking at possible upgrades buddy? Wasn't you planning to go to the D7100 when you decided to upgrade?

Can you shoot something at 800 ISO and post a 100% crop of it without doing any noise reduction?

My D300 isn't going anywhere she went on the dog walk today with the 2 kit lenses, kept one in pocket one on camera. The D700 a simply a turbocharged D300 if you ask me.....seamlessly back and forth between the two. Same camera. Better ISO range and a couple extra buttons. D300 still is super awesome and I am super happy with it too!

Exactly what I wanted. What a kit! Lucky puppy I am! 18 to 200 covered with DX kit lenses for the D300 and 35-300 covered for FX with a couple sweet primes to boot!

I can't recommend a D700 to D300/300S owners enough!

No hurry. I'm not planning on buying FF, but my experience with the D300 this week left me somewhat disappointed.

Long delay sorry Blacktop.

Couple backyard yard snapshots direct JPEGS from camera zero processing. Nikkor 70-300 AF VR.
