@wev , I do not understand your EXIF data readings. Your shutter speeds show 10/2000, 10/8000, etc. What actually is the shutter speed? I know you cannot stop wing action with 1/200th or 1/800 so I am assuming it is 1/2000 and 1/8000?

However, at f/7.1, with that high a shutter speed, how the hell are you using ISO 200?

Today, with the sun bright and directly over head shining onto my feeder, I could not use 1/2000th at f/5.6 with an ISO lower than ISO 1000.

I shot the last series of three posts at 1/800, f7.1, iso 200, which, here in SoCal on a sunny late-it-the-day, is my normal walk about. I had a good afternoon sun behind me and full on the birds. The previous few, at 1/200 later in the evening, I had my 700 flash set at manual 1/4 power and diffuser, which I don't like to use as it distorts the color and bright-spots the eyes. I was about 10 feet away for all of them.

So you are using flash? I guess that is what stops the wing action a bit then.

A few more of the sameness, I'm afraid. It was breezy tonight and I had a terrible time getting focus.

My hummers have returned :)

First sighting was @ 9:15 am, this was early afternoon in the rain. Not much photographic merit but I am so pleased they are back !

Cheers, Don

There are some really great shots on here. Them little suckers are not the easiest thing to get focused on in such a short amount of time.
Here is one of mine.

We have been playing hide and seek all afternoon and only managed this one shot -- I think they enjoy it.

Flat, gray, glaring light today, so just checked in with one of my moms to see if all was well
