You would think with this much snow there would be flakes, but anything that I've managed to capture on a glove, scarf or mat has looked like nothing other than a block of ice. Not sure if it's because it's been too cold or too warm, but most of the people I see taking these photos are further north - Canada, northern Russia, etc., so I may have just gotten fortunate that first day. I've kept my eyes open, but given the number of times I've tried to get something and come up empty I've stopped looking. I used to have stuff sitting at the ready in the garage - not any more.

Really can't wait for things to slow down and for the snow to melt so I can get out to shoot, and there's actually something besides piles of snow to take pics of. For now, another view of a very small corner of my office.

I feel exactly the same way. All the cold and snow are getting rather tiresome about now.

Amp? Funny name for one though. But it is easy to tell why it is named that.

Runs on 6 AA batteries. The "nose" is the on/off/volume. Great little screamer that has a hinged enclosure that impacts the sound depending on how open/shut it is. My first guitar hero, Terry Kath from Chicago, was an initial investor. Not sure who owns them now.

I have a Victor Record Player that uses the door for volume control. It also does not run on electricity either so no batteries needed

That's really old school. This isn't volume as much as it is tone shaping, allowing the sound off the back of the speaker loose on the world, much like the tonal differences between open and closed back speaker cabinets on larger guitar amps. It's a slick little tool, and I remember seeing a video of Frank Zappa plugging into one on The Mike Douglas Show back in the late 70's.

Another (bit of a) throw-away, but the rains started, temps almost reached 40F, and the snow is starting to recede. I even managed to (finally) break up 20 feet of inch thick ice that engulfed part of our walkway and the front step. Snow levels seemed to have dropped about 4 inches today. I'm guessing if things progress as expected we'll see some green by Saturday, which will mean little to those who start experiencing severe flooding on Friday.

Best part is, the entire time I spent breaking up ice there were birds singing in the pines. Spring's a-coming. I swear!!

Hey, I know it's not Canada, it's not even Chicago or Minnesota - but it's not supposed to be like this in NJ. LOL

I was very fortunate, these skies lasted about 3 minutes and then closed up.
