A couple more single frame shots from this morning.

I really liked the shadow coming off this guy.

And this is an old house stuck back behind another old house that I've passed thousands of times, but I've not noticed this one until about a month ago. See what happens when you slow down and look?

And after someone asked about it earlier this week I decided to try a pure Lightroom-only B&W conversion with it. What I love is that both of these images are available simply by swapping the treatment tab in LR, with the color and B&W setting in the Adjustments section stored independently.

Those two house shots are amazing.

Thanks. I was just about to jump in the shower when I looked out the window and saw the sun peaking over the horizon and low clouds, so I got dressed instead. This same shot 15 minutes later would have been very one-dimensional with no sun, as it is on a bright day at midday.

^^^^^ A clear reminder that I need to start learning about understanding light.

When you think of outdoor light think of it this way, how would you light something in a studio? You wouldn't hang something bright immediately over top of it. You'd either put something directional pointing straight at it, or use a diffuser to soften things up and reduce shadow sharpness. When you go outside, right after sunrise and just before sunset are your directional lights, and cloudy days are your diffusers. Everything else is imperfect but sometimes workable.

There are a couple trees I am drawn to every time I drive down this one road, but I've never been able to capture them in a way that's pleasing and also non-life threatening (it's a busy road). Freezing temps and leftover snow last night gave way to warm and rainy temps this morning, and it presented me with low traffic and some moody clouds and fog, so I finally managed to make myself happy with how they were captured - all while staying dry in the car.

The fog this morning was dense and frozen, making walking on any surface treacherous. I managed not to kill myself getting to the front walk to get this. I have others in the camera from a short jaunt today, but so far I've managed to post at least one on each day, so I give you my morning effort. I love how Oak trees hang on to their leaves as long as they can.

And don't blame me for the mailbox - between a neighbor who took the last one out with his car and 4 separate rounds of mailbox baseball in 18 months, the USPS can still stick a letter in it. :)

::what:: That must be a different variety of oak tree than what we have on each side of our driveway. Ours have been bare for a month, and even our Japanese Red Maple which holds onto its leaves the longest has lost just about all of them. Your oak tree is amazing to have that many leaves!

Some oak leaves turn pretty colors--not ours though. :( How about yours?

Love the photo! :)
