A quick story. I wanted to purchase the 50mm Nikkor that everyone swears by here on the forum. I got a good deal and ordered it. Long story but after a mix up, it never arrived. Phone number was disconnected, website was down. I had paid via the credit card 6 weeks ago. I gave up and thought "Learn your lesson". Low and behold I get a call from the company saying the lens had been returned to them. The courier stuffed up. So they re-sent it and it arrived today! Happy about that. Cheers, Brad :)

Which 50mm did you go for? 1.8G ? How do you like it on the D3200?

Went with the 1.8. 1.4 too expensive. Haven't tried it yet Brandonberg. Only arrived yesterday and I'm a bit slow off the mark. (I've bought an iPhone 5s and am selling the iPhone 5. Someone was coming to look last night so that took care of time! No Sale Anybody want to buy an iPhone 5? )

Anyway I'll take some pics with it this Sunday with guests over and will let you know. Cheers, Brad :)

On a more 50mm note, here's a couple of snaps I took last week (the last bit of good weather we have had for a while) of some interesting reflections down at the canal near where I live. Used my Nikon 50mm f1.8. I have mixed feelings regarding this lens, unlike the 35mm the 50mm I find is a harsh mistress, with its effective focal length of 75mm on the D3200 and no VR I find hand held shots fun unless I have a high shutter speed. On a tripod its much better and when you get it right the results are spectacular, in my case it is when, at the moment I am getting my lowest success rate with this lens. But will perceiver. I would be interested in others experience with this lens on the D3200...
Oh the butterfly was taken with the 50mm handheld, one co-operative butterfly and no macro lens handy!

I like the second one, the reflection is great.

A little over a year ago... I took a trip to Indianapolis to see my family. I was shocked to find that I didn't take my camera ( a D300s at the time ) So I went downtown to Roberts and bought this little d3200 with the 18-55 lens. One of the first pics out of camera was this picture of the war memorial along the canal. I was really impressed.

Here is a couple more shots with this amazing camera. The first is a 100+ crop using a 70-300 afs vr lens. The car was not in motion but in the pits at the Indianapolis 500. I cropped it to see just how far you could go with it.
The second shot was taken here in my back yard in Oregon at the head of the Metolius river.
I don't know why it copied second image as an attached thumbnail....
