Thanks. I have set the exposure wheel to ‘Auto’ and then saw that d10 ‘exposure delay mode’ was set to 3 seconds. I’ve set this to OFF and tried to shoot on Auto and it worked! Have I solved the issue? Did the previous owner have the d10 setting to 3 seconds and this is why the shutter closed...

Hi I’ve checked the menu settings as you suggest. Self timer is not on. The shutter is fast only when the setting is U1 or U2, which I don’t understand.

Hi I’d read on the internet to use Auto. I then tried M as well, to no avail. Following your message, I’ve just tried U1 and U2 (whatever they mean?) and the shutter is now releasing as it should (ie no delay at all!). Is it that simple? Why wouldn’t it work correctly on Auto?
