Is there a special technique used to shoot fog or..?

You have asked a great question.

I really like to shoot fog shots, and have really not done anything out of the ordinary, other than maybe I shoot only raw. I can really get the fog details or smoky look or whatever you call it out of raw, where I could not out of jpeg. Photomatix tonemapping really helps me, too, I think. Silver Efex for B/W is awesome for fog. (You may know this already...)

There probably is something special to do that I am not doing. So far, standard operating procedure is working for me... (Ready to improve, however! LOL)

Dave, that shot is awesome! You really have B/W down. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the compliment Ozarkite. This was really a 'so so' colour shot which I thought on a whim to try as a b/w. Happy with the result.

I used Nik Silver Efex for the conversion.

Was the perfect morning on Sunday to do some fog shots. Alas, I needed to be somewhere by 8:15, but managed to hunt down a spot or two to grab a pic on the way. I have a B&W version of this that I thought I uploaded to Flickr as well, but I guess not.

nothing special about taking the fog shots that i did. Mother nature did the hard part with a freezing fog and cold weather.

Cool. I need to start shooting some fog then! I didn't know if there was some specific things to watch such as shutter speed or other to capture fogginess. Thanks for erm, "clearing" that up:rolleyes:

Thx Marilynne

Been hectic with working away from home.. And then just chilling with the family and kids.

But yesterday decided to get out with the camera, and really enjoyed myself, the weather was cold but great :)
