Yes, loweel it was!! Just glad that one of us got it, at least we will know it went to good use!!

That was too funny when you posted you just bought one off of Craigs List... Enjoy and looking forward to hearing how you like it. I will likely grab the 55-300 while I can..

Ok, my 55-300mm arrived last night... managed to snap a couple moon shots last night...
I am at work today but will head out and see what she does (likely shoot a series of tests at various focal lengths.

Tomorrow maybe head out and grab some wildlife!

Congrates on the new lens! You showed great restraint in not calling in sick today to play with your new toy!

Thanks Rick!! I may not have called in... But!
Captured the moon this morning before work... took a series at work and outside to see the magnification difference ... shot a few farm animals on the way home!

I will get a good look at them after dinner... Pleased so far!

I got an amazing lightning deal on my 55-300 on Amazon last year, (like 250 dollars good), so, for me it was an easy decision. I like that it fits in a small belt pouch, and so easy to pull out and add to the camera.

I have been impressed with the quality overall. I want my D7000 to be my lightweight, easy to use setup versus the tank of a setup involving the D800.

the 70-300 is a fine lens, about 200 dollars more, about 30% larger/heavier. so,, since in my case, I prefer the lighter weight of the 55-300, and would save the money,

but.. its your lens/pictures/fate..

No Culprit... First come first served, early bird gets the lens etc... at least we kept it in New Enland... I am pleased so far with mine and feel comfortable it will do what I need... (enjoy your purchase!!)

Thanks Marilynne,

I have tried it out a bit and so far pleased... did some focal length tests, got some moon pics and some farm animal pics... It was handy at the farm! I will have some up on the 365 page later...

Here is the indoor focal length test at work... these were shot from my desk, through the doorway out into the qc lab.

I did another test outdoors that will be on my 365 page.
