Everybody loves the B-17, as do I. But, the B-24 Liberator was the unsung hero of WWII.

Marilynne.... please announce when the 2013 show begins.

Ted,

I just checked the Collins Foundation's website and the 2013 schedule will be announced early 2013. It's usually in Boca in Feb. I'll try to remember to remind you. The Collings Foundation - Preserving Living Aviation History for Future Generations

Remote control war birds will be flying Nov 11 (Veteran's Day) at the West Regional Park in Delray.

B17 fly by - I was ready today, but Chris had the TV on and we didn't hear it until it was directly overhead. This is the best I could do.

Boy, what I'd give to see any of these bombers in the flesh...

I took a trip up to the local airstrip yesterday and the only oldies I saw were a DC-3 and a Bristol Freighter and what an old pig that is,, slow, noisy, ugly. There really isn't anything to admire about the Bristol F...

We have a B-17 and B-25 (and others) here in Mesa, AZ. Falcon Field hosts the Arizona Confederate Air force.

Had a couple of friends go up in Sentimental Journey (B-17) over Memorial Day Weekend.

Here is the B-25 starting her engines...

I just stepped out into my backyard today to test a UV filter I attached on my 70-300 lens. I heard an uncommon low drone engine coming in and pointed up at the sky and look what I saw. I was surprised to see a bomber plane flying around my neighborhood. It was cool seeing the gun turret on the belly of the plane and the "painted lady" on the nose. I'm not sure what kind of bomber this was.

I know this is an old post and I am glad I saw it. I think this very B-17 was the one flying over where I worked at the time which was in Tallahassee, Florida. We had some kind of air show close by that weekend.

It makes sense. I'm in Jacksonville so it's very likely.

Yesterday at Rocky Mountain Airport. Flat light and haze made it tough, but I got a couple of okay shots.

Just scheduled for the weekend, but I doubt they flew out in the thunderstorms last night, so it might still be there this morning.

For the next few weeks the last two remaining flying Lancaster bombers are together in the UK. The Mynarski Lancaster arrived from Canada Friday to join with the RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster and display around the country. I was out to meet her but due to bad weather the original join up and fly past over Lincoln had to be cancelled so all I got was a shot of Vera as she passed by in the distance on her way from Canada.

Hopefully I'll get some far better shots in the near future.
