This jay was yelling for me come out and take some pictures, then wanted to hide. That branch wont be a problem again.

Some birds do this to cover their food so others don't get to it, but I've never seen a Jay do anything like this. Interesting.

Seem there are reports of Jays doing this. There seems to be several theories other than sunning. They seem to think its related to parasites depending on the theory they are trying to use the heat to drive them away or use ants to accomplish this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anting_(behavior). Any way a first for me.

It flew to several locations in the back yard but only 2 to 2 1/2 feet off the ground. Glad when it finally perched in some denser cover.
