Nice shot Sandpatch! I really like the perspective and the signal. Also no grafifti insight!
What lens did you use, a tele?

Thank you. Yep, my Nikkor 55-200 DX at 175mm/f8. The lens hasn't worked properly for many years now, producing a sort of clicking noise with the image in the viewfinder jumping up and down when I press the shutter button down halfway. After 3 to 5 seconds it settles down and focuses. So, I have to think ahead as a train approaches to allow enough time for the lens to settle down. It's not an expensive lens, so it's not worth getting fixed. I might replace it someday, though I hesitate because I don't get out to take pictures like I once did.

Ha, yeah, it's gonna be a madhouse trackside as the 4014 makes her tour. She'll likely run on Norfolk Southern (NS) lines in the east. From 1987 to 1991, the NS ran their own massive steam locomotive 1218 on fantrips until their CEO at the time decided the liabilities were too great to shoulder and shut down their steam program which had operated with various locomotives since the late 1960s.

My wife and I rode behind the 1218 and took many pictures of it over the years. This was taken 04/09/1988 at Attalla, AL. [Nikon 2020, Kodachrome]
