I think so, too. It was a minor distraction from the subject, but a distraction, none the less.

I really like the shot composition, by the way. What were the lighting conditions for the shot? And was the background black, or did the light fall off that much?

There was a shaded oak tree behind him about 30'. The sun was peeking through some other trees from behind to light him up.
