:eyetwitch: What lens did you use? A 500mm lens at f/4?!! Wow! Lots of detail, too! Nicely done.

Thank you, Cindy. I used a Nikon 500mm AF-S f/4 G VR that I got on the used market from Bozeman Camera last Fall. BC sent it to Nikon USA for service and it seems to be in top notch shape. (I wanted the FL version, but that wasn't going to happen for a while!) I'm getting used to it, although I need to take up weightlifting to properly use it like I want to.

I thought it might be a whopper of a lens! Beautifully done, WM, but heavy for sure! Thanks for the info. Just be careful carrying it around. ;)

Another from Central Florida. A bit soft, so I think I need to tweak the focus adjustment of this lens/teleconverter combo! And practice my techniques and procedures of shooting birds in flight!

It was about as close as any of them came to the boat all day.

Thank you. As far as carrying it around, it's not one to have joined by a lot of other equipment when you have to carry it all on your person. I'd like to make a small wheeled cart, like a baby stroller, to carry my gear around in when I'm walking with my gear.

My immediate goal is to practice with this lens and get my skills up to where I am more deserving of it. I haven't been out with the cameras very much over the last two years, and I can really tell that my skills have deteriorated. This hobby takes practice,... lots of practice!

Re: Cleared to land (Hagerman NWR near Sherman, TX)

Very nice!

Where did you find this @ Hagerman? That's one of the places we visit regularly.

Didn't -- the site somehow changed the header of my posts, as if I was replying, not posting new. I'm in Southern California

And thanks
