I didn't realize it until I started shooting and found myself looking at the photos a little bit longer than usual thinking, "damn, that's crisp looking.." The pro elements really help, and the ED glass is very nice. Transparent, but nice when you know what you're looking for I guess.

I'll try and get some 30mm and 70mm for you Jeff!

If you use it with the best aparture, the sweetspot is between 24mm and 35mm.
At f/8 all focal distances have good sharpness.

Thanks, Marcel!
Images really don't translate well over the compressed internet.

Overall though, I think it is a winner for me at least, because it offers me versatility. In my bag, that's starting to get more important. I'll post some more photos in my 365 after the weekend, and update with a full "review"my personal findings after 30 days.. Perhaps this thread will become useful for someone who searches for it.

Euro- I sarted a 16-85 thread to help folks decide between lenses, please add some shots!

Posted to it! Let me ask you this, I'm thinking about getting a CPL filter for it. Any recommendations? I've also heard that on wide angles the effect can be uneven.. Can someone guide me in a direction? I wish to increase colour and minimize reflections.

As far as the 18-105mm VR.. Get it. I own one. I also was werry about the palstic mount. But it is well made. You should have no problem with it..

Well, my theory was as follows: Either buy the 18-105 OR the 16-85. Reason being, is that I only want three lenses to carry if I'm loaded up fully. 11-16mm, 16-85mm, and a 35 1.8 for low light stuff. That's my light carry. So it was really one or the other. I know the 16-85 is the better lens, but didn't know if I will miss the zoom or not yet. So far it seems like I might just miss a little of it. But then again, the quality...arugh..!
But buying the 18-105 would simply overlap like, 80% of the focal range I already have in the 16-85, so there's no point to owning both. IMHO, course..

And yes, one of my main reservations was the price. Then again, you have to go big or go home sometimes! This next round of lenses will be pricey, but totally worth it in the end.
