EV steps for exposure control: 1/3
Easy exposure compensation is on (I tried it off too)
EV is 0

Try something: Take a picture inside on automatic. Review your picture and use the same settings on manual and take another picture. If they don't match exposure, then something is wrong.

Did you buy the camera in a store? If not, where?

Marcel, I'm trying tp find the answer in manual.
Set your EV at +0-. Also, what is your White Balance set at? Try setting it on the Fluorescent setting for indoor shots and the Sun setting for outdoors. I have a feeling it's a combination of EV and WB settings that are not set right. Oh...and don't use 100 ISO for indoor shots that are not well lit. Bump up the ISO to something like 400 or 800. Outdoors, use 100 ISO in bright sunlight.
I tried exactly what you are saying, but not too much more light on the picture even on 800 ISO.
Even regular phone camera picks up the same image without the flash exactly how human eye sees it, so the problem is in the camera or camera settings.
Pictures outdoors are excellent thought...

It's very difficult for us to guess what your settings are. For inside, if you insist to use manual, try iso 1600, 1/60 f4.5. What do you get with that?

See, this is what I get with my D700 at 1600 iso, 1/60s f5.6 inside my house

I tried it and they match! Also I put white balance on Fluorescent, how FOTOJACK advised.
So maybe it was not the right combination of white balance and ISO.

Thanks everybody who tried to help me! Your advice was very useful!

So I guess you have maybe a lot to learn before you use your camera in manual mode? No? Is this your first camera? If not, what did you have before?

Hi every body. I've got the same problem with the same Nikon D7000 with the 35mm 1.8. I've also tried the M mode and everything was getting black.

I tried to 2 images in 2 different one is Auto and the other one is M mode with the same values and i got the same exposures result.

So, my question here is ? Is that Camera's problem or just my problem ? ( I'm a newbiew and I come from Vietnam )

Thanks for all of you helps.

put the lens on and try the live view ...if you cannot get a picture on the screen you will have to look for a reason...take the lens cap off .....;):D
