As most of you know, here in California it's virtually legal to buy pot. I was once an advocate of legalizing it but I am not in favor of the way it is being handled. The law was written very ambiguously so that modern day Al Capone's are now running these shops. Not at all what I, nor most of the voters in CA had in mind when we voted this thing into law. Not that I believe it should be made equal to heroin as it is classified in many other states but it shouldn't be simply given to anyone with a hangnail or some other non-medical purpose. What's even more irritating is that the law required these shops to be non-profit and I guarantee these shops are anything but non-profit. And instead of the prices going down, they've gone up. Higher prices in turn increases the petty crime rate. Moreover, I live near a high school and I see these medical pot containers littered all over the school grounds and in the neighborhoods near by the school, like mine. Again, not the "marijuana for chemo patients" that most thought they were voting for.
Sorry for the tangential rant but I will end with this statement - be careful what you wish/vote for and read the fine print very carefully.
