I found out that this GBH has been named D.W. by the local bird watchers. He/she more or less "owns" this pond and does not let other GBH there. This bird is quite a character, and in this series is "attacking" and playing with a stick.

Great shots as usual Woody. The clarity and composition of your pictures is consistently wonderful. I almost feel like I'm there.

I hope you don't mind if I post a bear picture in the thread. I couldn't find an existing thread on the topic and didn't want to start a new one. We looked out the kitchen window and found this guy. I estimate his weight at 300 LBS. I shot these through the window glass, sacrificing quality for safety. Bears are why I'm always VERY careful when walking down the driveway to get the newspaper each morning!

These were taken in western NC. He munched on tree nuts for about 1/2 hour and moved on. We haven't kept a bird feeder for decades because the bears remember where they are and become frequent visitors.

Those are nice pics. I wish I could get a bear opportunity like that. Nice job.

Since this is my project thread for the year, I'd just as soon that only my pics are posted here. I hope you understand.

Keep the great pictures coming! I always enjoy seeing your photos.
