this is getting tedious

When I take a SD card out of the camera the door stays open and the camera sits on the table until the SD card gets put back in. Battery gets removed and another one gets put in at the same time so I don't forget it.

And you just get around to mentioning this ... .now.

After I've already had the arm removed in preparation for a bionic replacement....

Lol

I throw this out every so often. This all came about when I was shooting the D5100 and I got to where I was going to shoot I had no card in the camera. More recently I forgot to put the Micro SD card in my drone and was up about 400 feet before I realized the card was not in. At least I learn from my mistakes generally after I have made them a few times. LOL

Lol. I remember more than a few times with both the d5100 and d5200 where I'd realize long after it was too late, oh crap, no memory card.

Didn't happen too often with the 7100 thanks to the dual slot, but yup. Still managed to pull it off a couple of more times. Lol

I've got two 64 gb sd cards in my d600 - I just leave them in anymore and use the data transfer cable. Haven't had the no memory card problem since. Lol

The cables a bit slower than the card reader but it works well enough. I've got a few other sd cards stashed in the bag as well, just in case.

I have never liked the cables. I don't have that much room on my editing station. On the desk I have two large monitors, the computer tower, of course the keyboard and a printer / scanner. So putting my camera on there would be precarious at best. But this is why we all have choices. LOL

I've done things like this plenty of times. I have a dozen or so different SD cards just because it's harder to leave them all at home that way. :)

I've left the sd card in the computer quite a few times,
But now I always keep a spare card in the camera bag, just in case.

I hear you. It's a whole lot slower transfering files, that's for sure. But my "workflow" normally is I get home on Saturday afternoon, plug in the camera, let bridge do the importing and catch up on emails etc while I'm waiting.

Then once it's done I pop open the pictures, start looking through them and saying to myself.. huh.. that looked so much nicer on the small screen. Nope.. Not a keeper.. not a keeper.. what the hell was I thinking.. why did I even shoot that... wow.. nope, not a keeper..

Lol

Ya, that pretty much describes my workflow.

I am the least organized person I know so I have to have a routine. I'm not a professional so my needs are simple. The only time the card is out of my camera is to download pics to my PC. After a quick check to make sure they downloaded properly, the card then goes back in my camera. The final step is to re-format the card. That way I know it's in there and ready to go.

I took some photos of a vow renewal by a couple from my Church. Your mention of forgetting a card for a wedding. This was their 50th wedding anniversary. After I gave the photos to the wife she explained how grateful she was for the photos. She went on to tell me that the original photographer for the wedding told her a week after the wedding he had forgotten the film, but he was to embarrassed to say anything.
