Meadow Pipit, Dunnock and Little Egret
Re: post 8620 .. Kevins
To me this appears to be a little egret , which can also show the yellow feet on black legs according to my book. We cant really see the head plumes which would be nice , but since the lores are that bluish gray , and the legs look a bit stocky ..... I think his call is correct, though the birds are very similar as Marilynne suggests.
Mr Jones hasnt yet chosen to include a location, but the birds look like hes around SE England... which would be helpful... hint hint :)

Youre probably pulling my leg , umm seeing how this particular issue is something of a pet peeve ... Frankly it strikes me as faulty to conclude what a species IS heavily reliant on location , since birds do get out of place, and it suggests that one really cant distinguish which species it actually is.. a thing some would choose not to admit. :)
But, regardless of that , some images just don't give all the details one might like , and there are species which I don't think one can truly distinguish even ' in hand ', since there is so much overlap in characters,, so it does make sense to use location- judiciously -as a factor to consider.
