Yes, that is a mistake, for certain. You certainly should have known, when you bought Windows-based mobile devices, that there is almost no support at all for them compared to Android or IOS
Well, the phone was a present and a big improvement compared to the piece of crap that I was handling, so I can't really complain.
Anyway my main interest was to connect the camera to PC, to have some kind of tethering.
A wifi adapter that cost 40 bucks and connect just to tablets and self phones it's nonsense.
Anyway I should have researched a bit more
and that as a result, you would run into issues exactly like this. The “new camera with built in Wifi” probably won't support your devices, either.
As I wrote in the first post, I'm speaking about: "Mobile, tablet and notebook".
D7100, for example, with WU-1a can connect to PC through a software called: "Helicon Remote".
I'm pretty sure that any Nikon High End camera can connect to a PC via Lightroom for example.
