Annual HOA meeting this morning, so no time to go anywhere, besides the front porch

That is pretty good for a front porch series. I am hoping to attract some critters to the back yard soon.

Thanks. The front bed has become a popular morning diner with the locals -- as long as Miss Tammy, the neighbors cat, isn't lurking about

I just reread my post. It sounds like a back-handed compliment. Even though you didn't take offense, what I was trying to say is this,
"I am jealous of your front yard critters and your porch. I would be delighted if I had that much activity and a porch to shoot from."

No worries, kiddo -- didn't read it that way at all. I feel pretty lucky, living on a fairly busy street in the center of town, to get as many birds and critters, as I do. I have planted out in native and nativesque species, which helps, plus I'm also liberal with the broadcast seed. Birds are creatures of habit and once they find a reliable spot, they bring their friends along, too.

Besides, it's not like you were accusing me of using stuffed and wired up hummingbirds, like some I could mention (you know who you are @RON)

That is good. I just wanted to clarify since the wording was kind of poor.

I need to plant some native species here, but there isn't much to choose from most of the nurseries. Texas Sage and a couple trees. One local nursery has acres of demonstration gardens and some native species for sale, but they are kind of expensive.

Nice walk around the arb with Roy1961 today. I was hoping to show him a few new birds for his list, but all we found were the usual suspects
