This kingbird was singing like crazy, but it took me forever to find him high up in a pepper tree

Loving the birds, Wev.

I'd love to know what each one is... showing my ignorance! I'm an Aussie who's lived in the UK for 10 years and I'm still getting to grips with English birds.

Thanks very much. I usually put the species in the file name, so you can hover the cursor over the image and you should get a pop-up with the info. Today's are:
bluebird
kingbird
nuttal's woodpecker
yellow rumped warbler
white-faced ibis

Aha... I wasn't hovering my cursor in the right spots. Is hummer hummingbird?

I see from focal length you're using the 150-600 lens... Nice to see these from a fellow 5300 user.

Anyhow, really impressed! Learning about the birds of west coast USA already :)

Yes, hummer = hummingbird. There are two primary types here: orange body with a red/orange neck is an Allen's; the gray and green body with a pink/red/purple neck is an Anna's. Both are year-round and widespread. I also get the rufous (which are almost identical to Allen's), but they have migrated out for the winter. There are three others, black-chinned, Costa's and calliope, but they live further south from me.

Make sure you check out @Roy1961 's 365 thread -- he gets a lot of local birds that I never see.

Had the arb to myself today; except for the greeter at the front gate, I didn't see a soul (at least of the wingless, two-legged variety)

the creek was popular with bathers and onlookers
