Blast from the past

I worked as a TV engineer at The University of Alabama back in the 70's Today I got notice that Simone had former a Facebook group dedicate to the past employees. I joined and found it was full of photos of a lot of us. Thought I would share a few of me from the decade of the 70's.

And I really liked this on. One of the employees had graduated and was asking for a letter of recommendation but instead of just asking he drew a comic strip with many of us in it. To set it up just a little. Mike was the head producer of the station and he was a little short of which we kidded him about on occasions. I was the main video tape editor in all the 2 inch video recorders.

That is soooo cool Don. And look at the hair. That is what I miss most about those times...

I love those kinds of photos. People at work, style of the time, and the subject isn't saying, "cheese."

This was a University Television Production Center. We did shows that were on the Alabama Public Television Network and some on PBS. A University in the 70s was a pretty interesting site especially with the people you would find in a university setting like this. Artsy was the word of the day most of the time. We smoked in the building at our desks but not in the control rooms or Video Tape rooms . The producers would bribe me to come in to work after hours with beer and pizza. We even had one guy who would show up to a 8 am staff meeting with a scotch in his hand and if you walked past the darkroom and the door opened there would be a cloud of odd smelling smoke come out. This was the 70s but a great learning experience for me working there. Met both of my wives while I was working there.

I remember smoking anywhere, you could stand at the counter of one of the many local camera shops, have a few ciggies while talking to the owner and playing with a few cameras.
