Looks like a moorhen to me, but I believe the powers that be have changed the name to common gallinule.

I got up early (5am, well that's late for me) and went up to San Jacinto before my wife went out to do the last minute stuff, lots of early morning mist and fog about, sun came out on the way home at 8:30.
