Sorry I have followed up with any of these posts. I just got around to shipping in the camera the other day. 320 to get it fixed. I was manfrotto befree tripod. It was attached and while I wasn't looking just fell off. Honestly I don't even want to use that POS again!! Very frustrating.

Yup... I had a feeling it was a Manfrotto QD plate that did you in. Take my advice: go Arca Swiss.

I replaced the Manfrotto head on my Manfrotto tripod with a Benro Arca Swiss head. I don't recall the specific model off hand, but went for something rated a little heavier in anticipation of bigger lenses in the future, but I've been happy with it.
