Only 3 out of 11

I need your help folks - please!

I have to enter 3 photos in my local club competition and can't decide which three to enter out of the following 11 shots.
Could I ask you to help me decide?

The criteria is pretty broad - "Close-up"

Now close-up is one thing but the photo still needs to be sharp, interesting, have technical merit and tell a story - just like any other photo.

Here are the 11 I have narrowed it down to (in no particular order other than date)

Please give me your top three picks and if you have time your reasons why.

Many thanks in advance.

I like the leaf, the first one of the spider eating the bug and the last one...

I love the jumping spider by it'self too - maybe more than the first spider eating the bug - but they are usually dime a dozen for macro photographers and if you want to stand out, enter the one of it with prey.

Good luck.

Thanks guys.

Interesting choices.
Looks like the leaf will be one of the three at this stage ...

Keep them coming folks (if you have the time)

1, 2, & 5.

On 1 I would crop off a little on the left.
On 5 I would crop off a chunk on the right.

I really like the spider shot, but not everyone can get past the fact it is a spider so that could hurt you in judging so I stayed away from the spider shots.

I vote for:

Leaf, for close-up, composition, contrast and the center where the veins come together being a focal draw.

Coffee Beans, also meets the close-up requirement and has contrast with focal draw going from pile perimeter to inside the glass.

Snail, for close-up, story and the depth of field created by the out of focus (in front leads into the subject while the back looks more like a wall)

I like the Leaf ccc-1-2, Snail ccc-5, and the Spider ccc-10.

The detail in the leaf , with the back lighting just catches my eye, and I like the curled edges for interest. Not real crazy about the black background.

Immediate interest in the translucent body of the snail, and colors of the shell. I liked this one the best of the three, I guess because I have never seen a snail image like this.

Love the Spider shot. Looks like a "Cool Dude" with Sunglasses on vacation. Light background really emphasizes subject. Specs and shadow add interest I like.

All are really good shots...I pick the Snail for the win!

Thank you everyone.
I am going to print the leaf, the snail, the cranefly (#11) - as voted by you guys.

I am also going to print the coffee beans and the cool looking spider.

I will then decide which 3 of those 5 look best in print.

Thanks once again.
