Is there a way to get LR 5.7 back after updating it to LRCC 2015?

That means when Adobe raises their CC rates, the huddled masses will be shelling out just to be able to keep up with their catalogues. I'm thinking we're screwed either way since we have to upgrade in order to keep up with new cameras and lenses.

I'll go on the record as believing that Adobe will stand by these rates for a long time. It's likely cost effective particularly if they were able to convert a significant number of LR users from the standalone to CC. What I expect them to do is entice folks into upgrading to include other subscription products, particularly around video. The distribution model is a win for them as there's no hard product. I suspect they've upped their numbers from the days of LR5 and CS6. Too much downside in pissing off the populace, but as has been said there are always alternatives.

I'll go back to LR5.7 and CS 6 and live without some of the niceties. I've got all my back 5.7 catalogs backed up so it's just a quick export and import to get everything else out. But I'm not too worried about ever having to do that.

Jeez....I hope you're right! I've got everything backed up until the recent upgrade. Everything after that is backed up with 6.0. Do you keep 5.7 and 6.0 both on your computer at the same time @BackdoorHippie? Thanks for helping to keep my ship level when I start to drift into paranoia!

I've got them both on my computer if only to save on having to reinstall an old version from disc and do all the incrementals since 5.0, but I don't really use it. I have opened the backed up catalogs after the CC install just to make sure you can do it and you can, but you can't really effectively maintain two sets of catalogs. To get back you'd just need to export the XMP files.

Now, the one thing they said back in the 5.7 days is that if you ever dump the Creative Cloud you would lose all access to Photoshop, but you got to keep using Lightroom's Library and Print functions. This means that you really would never have to go back to version 5, you could just keep using LR CC (I guess it would effectively be LR 6) for the catalog functionality and call your editor from there. At least you'd lose none of the tagging and rating work done. Whether that's still the case now with LR CC I don't know, but would love to.

....except you're shelling out cash in that attempt also unless you're using freeware.

I use freeware mostly even when I still have LR 5.7. I now use Affinity too which is freeware as long as it is beta but from the looks of it, I'll buy it the moment I has its full release. Some editors are better at certain things than others which is why I use more. I discovered Affinity does a pretty good job when it comes to shadows so for those shots, I use it and then do the rest in RT. The same with its clarity sharpening.

There's loads of open source out there doing a more than decent job and often as well as the editors you have to pay for. I try about all available and then pick what suits me best or what is worth the money.

I'm not certain, but I think it only does the "corporation" exif thing when using a picture that was worked on with a previous version of Lr. I'm working with CC versions on my iMac and MacbookAir and I got the corporation thing only when I exported some of my older pics today. I will try again to see if I can reproduce the problem on my MacBookAir with some older pictures. But I do have to re-import them first since the upgrading got my catalogs confused.

Just checked one of my pics that was imported/edited/exported just with the new LR CC update, and it shows me "corporation" on that one as well, FWIW.

I did notice this looking at one of your pictures in the monthly assignment thread.
What I don't get is that if you upload the same picture from the same file to Flickr, you'll get the right exif camera model... I think it has to do with our Forum software. It bothers, me but I'm not going to loose sleep over it.
