It was a horse tie up and he went from one side to the other, peering into the cross tube. I suppose, as an acorn woodpecker, he was trying to figure out where he was going to find a nut big enough to fit the hole.

The camera gods were a little kinder today and I got some decent shots, including a few of an ash-throated flycatcher to make up for yesterday

A great white came flying out of the brush by the creek and startled the heck out of me -- not great, but I'm lucky I got anything at all
