I shot this Female Rock Wallaby from my verandah this afternoon, the sun had already gone down behind the hill, so I was battling with low light.
These are all handheld. The last pic is a crop from the 2nd one.
I think the VC does a good job on this lens.

Nice images Brad, are any more settled about the noise.
Thanks Mike.
I am not sure what you are asking there about the noise.
I gave these a small amount of noise reduction in Apple Aperture, I could have removed more noise had I run them through Nik Dfine, but they were just quick edits.
Could have misunderstood then,i thought you had made a comment somewhere about not being too happy with the noise in the images due to the ISO needed.
Ah, yes. I did make that comment.
This is why I reduced the shutter speed on these shots rather than push the iso too high.
To have a higher shutter speed I guess I would have been up around 3200iso again, thats where I get the noise that I don't like.
I think the noise in these images is acceptable for what I wanted them for.
A couple of examples of why ime having such a hard time staying mad with this lens
Both 100% crops hand held,i have seen better but for me they are an achievement

Oh that is great
The main problem is that she doesn't resolve that kind of detail when the distances increase.
Detail reduces with all but the best of primes as distance increases![]()
Of course but there's a reasonable difference between the Tam at a short distance and at a long distance using the same focal length. That she can't resolve the same detail is normal but there's more than that I think. At least from what I notice in my shots. Not that it is a dramatic difference.
I just went through my shots and of all I've taken today, the majority are head-shots and close distance shots. Most of them are at 5-6m. When distance increases, the rate of shots that I delete increases simultaneously. The majority of my close shots are keepers while only a minority of the others are.
Now it's easier for focus to lock in at close range than it is at double the range and I go through my selection at 100% and delete everything that doesn't have that amount of sharpness I require but even when keeping that in mind, for my cam, she get sloppy when distances increase.
As a matter of interest, have you done a micro-adjust and if so at what focal length?
