@Lawrence this is what you can expect for some of the trip - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtAQ2BL5cJI
Hey Scott, I hope you have got a couple of those "selfie" sticks, looks like you will need one each going by that video :D.
Hey @Scott Murray are we going to attempt "gunshot creek"?

:D
No trip to the Cape is complete without going through Gunshot .

Seriouly though, I don't see any point in damaging your vehicle needlessly. There are detours around that spot that is shown in the video. Best to go around and wait with your camera in hand for some gung-ho tourist to give it a go.
I lived on Cape York for about 20 years and heard plenty of horror stories, broken engine mounts and fan through the radiator, etc etc. It's a long way from a shop to get parts to fix your car.

Some of the gear I have bought for this trip so far.

Gear for trip-2848.jpg

From left to right:
Giottos Silk Road series tripod with Giottos MH1300 Ball head
Lowepro 202AW sling rucksack bag
Nikon D7100 - not bought specifically for this trip but the trip was a major influence in my decision to be reckless
Keen hiking boots

In addition to the above I have a ND Variable filter on the way (thought that would arrive today)
4 Memory cards
Spare battery
Filter pouch holder

We took the detour back in 94. We were travelling alone so didn't want to risk it ;) Some of the other creek crossings were hairy enough :D
