This is a Hawaiian Stilt, which is an endangered bird. It is considered a sub-species of the Black-necked Stilt, which can be found in North America. I took this picture while wandering through tourists sunning themselves on the beach, unaware of the beautiful bird only 40-50 yards away. I wish I had my big ol' bird lens with me (Tamron 150-600), but I made do with the "vacation" lens (Nikon 18-300).
