Saga..
I order a reverse singh-ray nd grad through b&h since the shipping is free. I have purchased few gears from b&h and have been very happy. Now, this purchase said, it will take 7-14 business days. I said, what the heck, I can save 13$ and ordered through them. 20 days passed, I get an email saying no update on shipping. So, I chatted with customer rep twice and they said it will be in their warehouse by nov 5 and it will be shipped on same day. Today I get same email that there is no update. I contact the customer service and they dont have any friggin clue about when they will receive the shipment but says 7-10 business days. When I ask him, are you sure, he/she says we dont know when manufacturer will ship to us. Due to inconvinience we will upgrade your shipment to 2 days for free. Wow what a deal!!!!!!!!!! Now, why the hell in the world do you still advertise (Even now) that it is 7-14 business days?

I have been tracking this on singh-ray website and it is available from the day I placed the order!!!!! I missed two excellent photo ops for my stupidity to order through b&h. Lesson learnt, I will not order such products where they have any time line advertised (they wont have any clue when they will receive it).

Please be aware.

I don't think there's a single retailer "out there" I haven't had some kind of similar issue with at some point.

S--t happens. Sucks when it does, but it happens.

yeah true. B&H is a great company but what surprised me is their customer service rep dont have a clue. I cancelled it as I dont want to push another month losing good photo ops. I ordered from singh-ray directly now.

Sorry to hear this. I've only had exemplary customer service from B&H. Have you asked to speak with a manager to see if they can offer anything else?

When I bought my first D600, it had the dreaded spots within 30 days. Since it came with freebies such as an extra battery, a case, and other items, I simply exchanged the camera body for another. B&H allowed me to hold onto those freebies then once they received my return, they shipped me a new body. Unfortunately they itemized the receipt and now included prices for the freebies so the camera body was listed as $1888.00 rather than $1999.99. When the second D600 wound up being repaired 3x by Nikon, Nikon decided to refund me my cost. All I had was a receipt showing $1888.00. And that's all Nikon included in the refund check.

When ordering my replacement D610, I said something to a B&H manager although I wasn't complaining. I just wanted to be sure the receipt for the D610 was listed as $1999.99. When I explained how B&H's receipt made me lose over $100, the manager offered to apply the difference as credit towards the D610 providing I emailed a copy of Niikon's paperwork showing how much was refunded. He certainly didn't have to offer any credit, and like I said, I wasn't even complaining. B&H stepped up and fixed their mistake. I've never experienced a problem with them.

Absolutely love them and have no complaints against other orders. This one pissed me off because its morethan a month and they still dont have a clue. A mid month email saying we cant would have been good. I am more pissed because of the lost photo ops thats all.

I've had nothing but good experienced with B&H both with purchases and returns. Heck, when the screens they advertised for a D600 didn't fit they told me to keep them rather than shipping them back because it cost more to process the UPS return than to just eat the cost of the product.

Now, if B&H's website said it was on back order and should ship in 7-14 days then that's a roll of the dice on your part to order it. It's a guess at best from them, and in my experience the timeframes they state are usually on the long end, but every once in a while you get bit. Yes, you saved $13, but you've spent more than in agitation and missed photos. I never order anything backordered. Both B&H and Adorama have email systems that will contact you when something is in stock, so if I'm going to wait I load up an email into each of those, and if I find it elsewhere and can wait no longer I buy it where I can find it.

These guys are huge, and their quoted numbers are manufacturer lead times. Saving money sometimes comes at a cost. Sorry for your experience, but there's not a hell of a lot B&H can do when they're not getting product. Oh, and as for manufacturers, I've known many of them to be the worst at reporting what product is "available", so don't be too quick to blame.

AgainI totally agree with my you on my earlier experiences. when I ordered there was no back order (actually it doesnt allow you to order if it shows back order).

That's sort of what I thought. Is it a "custom order" item that requires ordering direct from the manufacturer? Regardless, give 'em their one strike. They're pretty darn good at customer relations, though I have to say (in all respect and with no prejudice) that the NY Hasidic Jewish Community isn't the most effective in emoting any sense of empathy or remorse when you're dealing with a problem. It's not that they don't feel for you and won't work with you, but they do it in the most direct and almost angry manner possible. Culture can be a strange thing when you don't experience it regularly.

Adorama allows ordering out-of-stock items without letting people know the item isn't available prior to ordering. Heck, I ordered one of these step-up rings, and I'm still waiting. My order was placed on February 3, 2014, and I still haven't received it. :eyetwitch: Bought a different one made by Sensei through a different seller so I really don't need this one although I never cancelled the order. Am curious as to how long it will actually take before it becomes available.

yes, they got their strike and still will order from them. I am bringing it to everyone's notice that when you order an item which says it takes some time to ship, its better to order them from somewhere else as customer reps dont have a clue.

Yup, totally understand the pain there. I think most retailers are like that though - at least those without a real-time inventory system.

In all honesty, for 0.13 and already being pushed back, I wouldn't have accepted more of the wait. It just means you sold that many days without for 13 cents.

But note taken - their dates are not based on actual delivery.

Maybe these folks are waiting sufficient orders to come in before they go to manufacturer to reduce the costs and inventory. Just guessing.
