Name your price?

I recently came across a website where you can go on and name your price for an item, tax and shipping included, and they send that offer out to retailers. If someone accepts your offer then it's sold to you at that price. I am considering trying this out, maybe putting in a offer for a SB700 and I was just wondering if anyone has come across this before and if it's the real deal or it's too good to be true?

Nikon has already done that for you and the price is $329.95 (+/- $3). All legitimate Nikon USA dealers have to sell the SB-700 for that price. If you can get it for less, be wary, it is probably grey market, or used.

No retailer would do that unless the items are indeed gray market/used/stolen/etc. Especially for quality products.

I'd need more detailed information. For instance, who's *actually* taking my money? Who's responsible if my product is damaged during shipment or if the product is not what it was advertised to be? I like the concept but the devil is still in the details.

If it sounds to good to be true it usually is. I'm all for saving a few dollars but I only deal with a few retailers. Adorama, B&H, Buydig. If it's a $500 item and I can save $50 if buying from an unknown seller. I'll spend the extra $50 knowing I don't have to worry about anything.

Dear gawd, so much this... ^^^

Getting a real person on the phone (with a decent command of the English language), hassle-free refunds/exchanges, prompt responses to emails or phone calls... Yeah, I don't mind saving a few bucks either, but not at the cost of losing what little sanity I still possess.

Honestly those were my questions too. That's why I was wondering if anyone has heard of or used it before...
