Blueridge Parkway........ suggestions?

I'm going to take the Blueridge Parkway during my return trip to Florida. I'll be getting on at Mile Marker 1, in Virginia, heading south.

If you have taken this route, and have any particular suggestions for good photo ops, please reply. I have no time restrictions.

The wold BLP is great....we've traveled a great deal of it.....suggest you get on north of Roanoke and drive down through to Winston-Salem. Beautiful ride....not sure of mile markers.

You'll have a great drive. I've driven a good deal of it, but not all at once.

My one tip, do not drive it during leaf peeping time if you actually want to get somewhere. I about went crazy with the road being blocked by inconsiderate folks who had to stop in the middle of the road to take their cell phone pictures. It got so bad I bailed off the parkway & continued my journey on the backroads, which was great.

If you end up on 95 through Savannah area, we should try and hook up for at least a quick beverage and a handshake! :)

Yes, and heaven forbid someone spot a bear from the road. The traffic would be backed up for miles if that happens.

We spend about six weeks of the summer exploring the parkway every year. I have seen it all, several times and there is no bad area. I will say though without a doubt that the high country from Asheville south is the prettiest. I haven't posted any pics here yet but if you want to see some very recent shots (some taken last week) checkout my Facebook page at Update Your Browser | Facebook. Sunsets, waterfalls, sweeping landscapes, night sky, wildlife you will find it all on the parkway so have a great time!

Borrow a motorcycle. That ride was incredible! The views were so awesome, I didn't get hardly any pictures because I was just taking it all in.

Enjoy the trip!
