With a bit more direction I have tidied the photo up by cropping right to bring the eyes to the centre, removed the debris on the pavement as well as the bright water and the markings on the road.
I am finally learning the importance and impact these small things have on a photo.

A busy day and only when I sat down in front of the fire wait a well earned glass of wine did I think photography. 'Fraid that is exactly the amount of effort I made.
For those interested the wine was excellent.

The first is a Protea - South African native (not the kind that run around with spears)

Protea 2 LOL.jpg

And then a little Fantail - my current nemesis and I am determined to nail one of these little suckers as a keeper but am still a bit slow for them.

I went for a drive and saw this little fellow (yes its a boy) who I assume was sitting on eggs as he slunk down as soon as he saw me and from then on it was a long waiting game to see who would move.
This was the best shot I got of him unfortunately and I didn't want to upset him if he was on a nest.
Lovely bright colours he had too.

And as promised by the met board our weather has been lousy and deteriorating.

This has not been a day for photography for me. The weather has been awful and have been busy all day with work related stuff plus have to cook dinner for Rahi and Mere (the homeowners) who leave for Tahiti tomorrow. They were supposed to leave on the 1st so I will be happy once they are finally gone and I can get back into my routine.
This was the best the weather looked all day.

OKAY you lot - whoever you are … time to return the sun.
Another day of rain and wind after it started off so promising.

Fortunately I took my camera when I went down to the village and took a few snaps. That's all they were really … snaps.
So here is a Pukeko (I think I have posted one before so apologise if this is boring)

I love these birds Lawrence. We have them here, but call them Moorhens. I call them chooks. Can't get bored looking at chooks :D
