Ironwoods Pen Journey

I think some more experimentation is in order Marilynne.
I have an idea I would like to try with the diffusers, maybe on the weekend....

Finished this ballpoint pen this afternoon. The barrel is another of my Wifes creations, she did some of her magic on the tube, then cast it in clear resin.
I couldn't capture the shimmer and glow the pen has while looking at it in the hand.

I tried some extra diffusers over the lights in some of the photos, ended up melting some holes in my good bits of foam :(.

I only got one shot with the black glass and didn't get the DOF as good as I would have liked , gave up in disgust because of the dust, it was unbelievable how much kept settling on the glass. I was doing it in my shed, so dust to be expected I suppose.

I have got some LED lights, I am going to try them in the lightbox when I get the chance. Wont be for a while though, I have too much other stuff going on.

Stunning work Brad! One of these days I am going to have to get a pen from you! Do you do Fountains?

Hey, thanks Doug.

Yes I certainly do make fountains.
And while I do take commissions, they mostly go without a hitch. But I have one at the moment that has made me raise the bar on my penmaking considerably. I have spent the price of a new Tamron 150-600 on gear to take my penturning to the next level and I still havent been able to make something that fills the commission to my satisfaction. I hope to come up with something soon though. I just hope they dont lose hope of me coming through with a worthy pen .

I had a very nice surprise last night. My photo of my green cast She-oak rollerball made the front page of the "International Association of Penturners". IAP Home

I almost fell off my chair when I opened up the page and saw my pen on there.

It will sit there for days or weeks, depending on when another worthy pen comes along.

Freaking awesome Brad. Your pens are outstanding! Wonder if this will drive in even more business for you?
Thanks Doug.
It would be nice to think it would, but the IAP is only visited by other penturners. Nice to be judged in such a way by my peers though.

Congratulation Brad!

Congratulations Brad. Nice pen.

Brad, very nice pen and congrats on winning in the contest!

Pat in GA

Thanks very much Michael, Marilynne, and Pat.

Winning the contest really came as a surprise, I was making that pen when I saw the start of the contest and just entered some photos of the pen to help make up some numbers as the entries were a bit slow coming in. It is nice to win though, and the box of bits will be nice when they arrive.
