Camera nearly fell off the strap

I was at Hoover Dam yesterday as part of our holiday. We are actually in Vegas for three days but we are leaving a day early as I really don't like the place as much as when we came ten years ago.

But back to my story. I had my D800 and 16-35 F4 on my Black Rapid strap as I walked around the Dam. I have a little home made safety tether strap connected to the standard strap mounts in case the lug comes out of the camera tripod mount. Well yesterday the clip managed to come out of the lug and the safety strap saved the camera.

I often don't screw the lock down on the catch on the BR clip as I didn't think the clip would undo, but it did. So for those with that arrangement, make sure you screw it down tight!!!

Off to Death Valley now for a night at the Ranch.

Old Vegas > New Vegas.

I was there in 2008. I have a fear of flying, but going to Vegas was #1 on my Bucket List, so I cinched up my panties and finally did it. While I had a great time, going to Freemont Street (the original Vegas strip) was by far the most fun. The Golden Nugget has a charm and atmosphere that the commercialized casinos can't even come close to in my opinion.

There is so much to see and do in that little area, you could've spent your entire trip there and never seen the same thing twice. Might want to re-think leaving a day early and head over there.

We did Vegas in 2005 with our 15 and 18 year old kids and enjoyed the experience. Maybe we just did the good bits then. As we say in the uk, it's like Marmite, you either love it or hate it.

Must go now as it's booked and paid for in Death Valley.

Thanks, we originally planned to do that today to fill some time, but as we've done Bryce and Zion getting here we won't make a special trip.
