This was shot with the 17-55mm.

I think wide angles from a high perspective are what can make these really shine. It helps to have foreground and background elements, along with a horizontal orientation. In all of the examples I've seen of tilt shift, those are the ones that look the best to me. I'll have to try this again tomorrow, possibly throw in some HDR along with it.

That is very interesting, and the first thing I thought before I read your description is that it looks like a model. Nice.

6/365: Relay for Life
Today's photo doubles as a photojournalism assignment. The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life has a long history of being much more than just a fundraiser, it's an experience. Where most others walk in shifts, so that at least one member of their team is walking at all times, this man walked for the entire 18 hour duration of the event. He is part of Team Ward, named after a local track coach, who lost his battle with cancer last September. The high school also recently renamed the annual invitational track meet after him.

7/365: Big Four Depot
This now abandoned depot was once a bustling hub of rail activity operated by the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis (CCC&StL or Big Four). During the 1940's, this building shipped thousands of local boys off to war. Not too far up the line from this depot is the Big Four Bridge, a huge concrete railroad bridge that has defined this city's skyline for nearly 100 years.

Another photojournalism assignment for the paper this morning. It's almost time for fall high school sports to begin, and this is the golf preview event for local golf teams.

This is one of the local water holes. Ohio certainly isn't known for its inland lakes, but I figured I'd venture out there today anyway and see what I could get into.

Saw this parked alongside the road this evening and had to stop. Good thing...I kinda forgot about the 365 today!

11/365: Old Tractor HDR
I've driven by this old heap for the last few days and decided to stop today. Unfortunately, it's not parked in a very convenient place, so I had to get creative with the point of view. I'm not very happy with this one because my DoF is off. I might have to try again tomorrow.

I love it! I mean I'm not a huge fan of tractors, but I love all of the colors, and the contrast between the blue sky and the red. It looks happy.

Ever wonder what would happen if you walked through the yard swinging your camera around, then made an HDR?

Are you ready for some football? I know I am! Here's one of the local teams in a practice game this morning.
