We visited the religious city ofLourdes whilst on holiday. OK I am not religious in the normal sensebut I have never been so disgusted in my life. The main road leadingto the church where the apparitions were said to have taken place islined with shops selling the cheapest, nastiest pieces of tat,ranging from figures of the Virgin Mary through to plastic waterbottles printed with religious scenes at exorbitant prices. The placewas crowded with handicapped / ill people and the thought of theseshops preying on and making huge profits on these peoples hopes anddreams totally disgusted me. There were even people disguised asmonks begging and when having received sufficient money would nipbehind buildings, change into their ordinary clothes and go into awell known fast food restaurent laughing at in their words “thosedumb suckers”. I am sorry if some people find this post offensivebut I promise you would be offended if you saw what I saw. This however is a true beggar who was totally ignored as he was not displaying any religious symbols.
